Blakedown homes scheme opens to the public
Construction work is progressing on the first homes being built as part of a 49-home scheme in Blakedown, where the first completed property has been unveiled to the public.

National housebuilder Miller Homes is currently building its Springbrook Gardens development, off Station Drive in the village, where a showhome has now been opened on the site.
The developer has also opened its on-site sales office alongside the four-bedroom Crosswood showhome, which is accessed from the front of the site, neighbouring the land set aside to develop additional car parking facilities for Blakedown railway station.
Carl Cooke, sales director of Miller Homes West Midlands, said: “An incredible amount of work has been put in by our teams to ultimately open our Crosswood showhome at Springbrook Gardens, and we’re really pleased by the final outcome.

“We had already given the opportunity to a select few people, who will become some of our first new residents in Blakedown, to visit the development ahead of the official showhome launch so they could see their homes under construction and, in some cases, nearing completion.
“The feedback from customers who visited us both before and during our showhome launch weekend in October was unanimously positive towards the Crosswood itself and the overall feel of the development which is beginning to really take shape now.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming our first new residents formally when the first sets of keys are handed over, but before then we will continue our work on site to deliver these sustainable homes in Blakedown and will welcome further visitors to our showhome over the coming weeks.”
Miller Homes West Midlands, based in Worcestershire, is building a range of two to five-bedroom homes in Blakedown, including 12 properties provided as affordable housing.
Public open space will be created by the developer to the east of the site, next to the two bungalow properties being built by Miller Homes as part of the development.
The site will be surrounded by retained and enhanced landscaping including mature trees, while a wildlife area will be positioned to the north of the development.
Planning permission for the new development also includes the provision for a 45-space train station car park to support Blakedown Station.
The first residents are set to move into their homes during the winter. Construction work will continue until 2027.
