Triple honour for Midlands based care group at Great British Care Awards
Two team members from the Macc Care Group, which operates 17 care homes across the Midlands, have been nationally recognised for their dedication and impact in social care at this year’s Great British Care Awards, held on Saturday (November 1) at the ICC Birmingham.
Nikki Martin, who works at Willow Rose care home in Willenhall, was named the winner of The Home Care Coordinator Award, while Anas Al Saadi, the Group Executive Chef at Macc Care, was awarded the prestigious Outstanding Contribution to Social Care Award and received highly commended in the Care Home Cook/Chef category.
Anas Al Saadi’s double recognition at the awards reflects the profound impact he has made across the Macc Care Group through his innovative, person-led approach to food and dining.
Awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Social Care Award, Anas was described by judges as “truly inspirational”, particularly for his unique practice of co-creating menus and dishes with residents and families – turning food into a powerful tool for connection, reminiscence and dignity.
He was praised by the regional awarding body, with judges saying: “He connects with residents daily, bringing joy and pride through his work. By recreating treasured family recipes alongside residents, he celebrates memories and lived experiences. His signature dishes, guided by residents and family tasters, reflect his passion, creativity and dedication to making every meal meaningful.”
Anas also received a Highly Commended nod in the Care Home Cook/Chef category, with the panel praising the exceptional standard of food he delivers across the group’s homes.
Nikki Martin’s win reflects her unwavering commitment to person-centred care and her natural ability to inspire and lead by example. Starting her career as a care assistant, Nikki is now Care Coordinator at Willow Rose, where she plays a pivotal role in mentoring and supporting her team while helping to deliver compassionate care.
Judges praised her “outstanding leadership” and said: “Nikki has demonstrated outstanding leadership, inspiring her team while exemplifying a deep commitment to person-centred care. Her tireless dedication ensures that individuals receive compassionate, high-quality care every day. Passionate about continuous learning, she finds joy in caring for residents, delighting in their happiness and bringing smiles to their lives.”
Macc Care Group prides itself on having a dedicated team across all homes. Bhav Amlani, Director of Macc Care Group, said: “We are immensely proud of Nikki and Anas – two individuals who embody the heart of Macc Care. Their recognition at a national level reflects their remarkable dedication, compassion and ability to truly transform lives through their work.
“Whether it’s through leadership on the care floor or innovation in the kitchen, both Nikki and Anas show what person-centred care looks like in action, and we couldn’t be more delighted to see their efforts honoured in this way.”
