Multiple homes across Macc Care Group, which operates 17 care homes across the Midlands, have hosted a series of fundraising events to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer research. Residents, family members, staff and members of the wider community came together for everything from coffee mornings to karaoke marathons.

In Wolverhampton, the team at Wulfrun Rose showed their support by singing their hearts out for 12 hours straight in a karaoke marathon. From wartime classics to modern hits, the event was enjoyed by everyone.

Meanwhile at Wyrley Rose, located in Great Wyrley, the team embarked on a 12-hour walk on the treadmill as well as a coffee morning. Keeping up the active theme, Willow Rose, in Willenhall, the team took part in an 8-hour cycle challenge. The Mayor of Walsall, Louise Harrison, also came to show her support, getting on a bike herself to show support after being given a tour of the home by staff and residents. The event and everyone’s efforts raised almost £70 for the cause.

At Sutton Rose, in Sutton near Birmingham, the day began with a coffee morning, with residents, relatives and staff all donning their brightest pink outfits to enjoy a spread of homemade cakes and good company. The home raised £145 thanks to the generosity of those who attended.

Furthermore, in Solihull, Blossomfield Rose took on a half-marathon walk around the home’s grounds, raising funds for local charity Breast Friends Solihull – championing the wider breast cancer cause alongside the fundraising for Breast Cancer Now. So far, the home has raised over £200 for the charity, with donations still coming in.

Bhav Amlani, Director of Macc Care Group, said: “It’s always inspiring to see the creativity and compassion that exists within our homes, and Wear It Pink Day was a wonderful reflection of that. Whether it was walking, cycling, baking or singing, each event helped to raise not only vital funds, but also awareness and connection. We’re incredibly proud of our residents, staff and supporters who came together to make a difference, their kindness and enthusiasm is really appreciated.”

All money raised across the homes will go towards supporting Breast Cancer Now’s work to fund life-changing research and provide support for those affected by breast cancer. Macc Care remains committed to championing awareness and wellbeing through community-driven events that inspire and empower.
