Eco-friendly Rugeley vet practice recognised with prestigious award
A Staffordshire vet team has earned a prestigious national environmental award recognising its work to cut waste and increase sustainability.

Linnaeus-owned D&T Veterinary Centre, which has practices in Rugeley and Stafford, has been accredited as a Green practice – the highest level possible – by Investors in the Environment (iiE).
iiE is a nationwide accreditation scheme which encourages businesses to transform their working practices to introduce more environmentally friendly and sustainable methods and systems.
D&T was recognised for sustainability being ‘thoroughly embedded in the practice’, achieving a two per cent reduction in its total carbon footprint for 2024.
Registered Veterinary Nurse and D&T ‘green champion’ Diane Royle said: “We’re thrilled to have received this prestigious recognition for our commitment to creating an environmentally friendly workplace.
“It’s a terrific achievement and shows the commitment of our whole team here at D&T to increasing our sustainability and cutting down on waste.
“We will continue to look for ways to further improve our sustainability strategy and widen its impact for the benefit of the practice, our clients and the local community.”
The iiE’s report also recognised the practice’s environmental and social projects, which it said showcased ‘the team’s devotion to sustainability and community impact’.
D&T carried out eight projects during 2024, including raising £400 for charity, donating its shredded paper to Elverra Pony Rescue Centre and holding educational visits at local schools.
Inspectors also highlighted how new team members are introduced to the iiE and environmentally friendly practices from their induction, along with D&T’s dedication to continual improvement.
The report said: “Sustainability is thoroughly embedded in the practice processes and day-to-day actions.
“The Green Champion demonstrates a high level of expertise and dedication in their work, as evidenced by robust data analysis, effective waste segregation strategies, clear staff communication, and the development of a comprehensive travel plan.
“D&T demonstrate clear understanding of opportunities and challenges for continual improvements.”
