Burntwood Rotary's Community Christmas celebrations to be bigger and brighter this year!

Burntwood Christmas season will soon be here where we celebrate with family and friends. For Burntwood Rotary Club the Christmas season planning started earlier in the year with the idea to make the festive season a family fun extravaganza.

Now Burntwood’s first ever bigger brighter celebration will have entertainment and a Christmas Market Fayre, oh and Santa will of course be making an appearance and welcoming children on board his sleigh on the afternoon of Sunday, November 23, and the Light switch on.

Our Christmas festivities start at 3.30pm with the traditional Christmas tree light switch on at 5pm and continues until 6.30pm. The event will be on the car park outside the Co-op store, Swan Island. On stage will be resident DJ Councillor Paul Taylor who will be hosting live music, live acts and characters from the Garrick Theatre Panto, Cinderella where sponsors and local dignitaries will switch on the lights after the traditional countdown.

In addition to our local shops offering high quality goods and services, there will also be a selection of festive food, beverages and a Christmas themed market, where you can perhaps pick up some early Christmas gifts like ceramics, accessories, floral displays and craft based good to name a few.

Burntwood Rotary President Rob Witcomb said: “We at Burntwood Rotary are very grateful for the very generous sponsorship of local company Filon and members of Burntwood and Lichfield councils. Now we can hold a real spectacular Community Christmas event. All donations made on the night will be donated to St Giles Hospice and Acorns Children’s Hospice. Thank you also, to all the volunteers who are supporting our fundraising efforts during the festive season.”

We look forward to Santa being out in his Sleigh around Burntwood, Chase Terrace, Chasetown and Norton Canes and at local venues or join us for Breakfast with Santa at The Nelson Inn every Saturday and Sunday morning in the run up to Christmas day.

What you need to know

Swan Island shopper’s car park will be closed to the public on November 23 at 2pm to 8pm to set up stage and Christmas market. Additional parking is available at Burntwood Memorial Hall, Rugeley Road, Burntwood.

In the event of adverse weather conditions, the event will need to be scaled back, but Santa will be there in his sleigh whatever the weather.
