The afternoon was dedicated to those who had achieved 40, 50 and 60 years membership. It was a time for celebration, sharing stories - and cake.

Helen Mancey, Chair of Staffordshire Federation, presented the members with Certificates and thanked them for being stalwarts in the largest women's organisation in the country. Helen reminded everyone that the WI is now 110 years old and is as relevant today as it was at the beginning, offering friendship and support, education and the opportunity to influence society through its campaign work.

The evening saw presentations of awards for competitions run by the Federation's committees including the County Show. Talented ladies had entered a whole range of competitions including quizzes, creative writing, gardening, bowls, skittles, craft, art, floral arrangements, produce, baking and photography.

Helen Mancey said, 'The interpretation of our competition briefs is inspiring. I am always amazed at the skill that is demonstrated by everyone, from the novice to the more experienced. It is inspiring'.

Committees are busy planning new competitions and activities for the coming year and more information can be found on their website, sfwi.org where there is a link to Facebook and Instagram
