Care group joins campaign to support homeless community this Christmas
This winter, Macc Care Group, which operates 16 homes across the Midlands, has partnered with local charity LoveBrum to take part in the ‘Bags for Brummies’ campaign - a city-wide initiative aimed at providing care packages to Birmingham’s homeless community during the coldest months of the year.
Now in its seventh year, ‘Bags for Brummies’ calls on individuals and businesses across the region to donate essential items, such as toiletries, winter woollies, sweet treats and supermarket vouchers, to be distributed to people experiencing homelessness.
With nearly 12,000 people estimated to be sleeping rough across Birmingham, this year’s campaign is aiming to be the biggest yet, and Macc Care homes across the Midlands are pulling together to help make an impact.
The Macc Care team are encouraging all homes to get involved in the friendly competition, organised by Love Brum, to see which organisation can fill the most drawstring bags. Residents, loved ones and team members are all embracing the challenge with enthusiasm, the bags typically include essentials like shampoo, roll-on deodorant, feminine hygiene products, toothbrushes, a sleeping bag, gloves, a small gift or voucher, and a sweet treat.
Speaking on the partnership, Bhav Amlani, Director at Macc Care, said: “We are proud to be supporting this vital initiative alongside LoveBrum. At Macc Care, we believe in the power of community, and this campaign offers a practical and compassionate way to make a difference to those most in need. It’s been truly inspiring to see our homes come together to fill bags with kindness and generosity.”
Founded in 2015, LoveBrum is a registered charity that supports "hidden gem" projects across Birmingham - organisations that are often overlooked for funding but are delivering real, positive change within their communities. LoveBrum empowers these grassroots groups to continue their work by giving them a platform and helping them to grow their impact.
The Bags for Brummies initiative is just one of many ways the charity brings the city together to help its most vulnerable residents during the winter and festive season.
