Councillor Craig Collingswood organised the 'Quiz and Chips' night which took place last week with 24 teams enjoying fun, food, and fundraising.

Local radio personality Dicky Dodd took centre stage as quiz master, guiding teams through rounds on geography, sport, general knowledge, and a lively picture round.

Guests also enjoyed a delicious fish and chip supper, generously provided by The Island House Restaurant, long-time supporters of the Mayor’s events.

The funds raised will be added to the Mayor’s annual fundraising total and distributed at the end of the year to four worthy causes: Acorns Children’s Hospice, Compton Care, SSAFA – the Armed Forces Charity and the Royal Wolverhampton Hospital NHS Trust Charity.

Prizes for the winning teams and raffle were donated by a host of local organisations, including The Halls, Cosmo Restaurant, The Grand Theatre, Lower Drayton Farm, West Midlands Safari Park, West Midlands Rail, Fairtrade Wolverhampton, and Tesco.

Mayor Collingswood said: “I want to thank everyone who came along and made it such a fantastic evening.

"We raised over £2,000 for some incredible charities, and we couldn’t have done it without the generosity of our prize sponsors and the brilliant Dicky Dodd, who gave up his time to support us.

"These events show the very best of Wolverhampton – community spirit, laughter, and a shared commitment to making a difference.”

The next Quiz and Chips night is scheduled for February, and those interested in taking part can email mayoral@wolverhampton.gov.uk to register their interest.
