Community spirit blooms: Over 800 poppies crafted thanks to TG project
A community project led by Sedgley Townswomen’s Guild has resulted in more than 800 knitted and crocheted poppies being made for Remembrance ‘Poppy Fields’.
At least 200 poppies on sticks will be ‘planted’ around each of four local war memorials: Sedgley, Coseley, Woodsetton and Lower Gornal, to remember all those who gave their lives for our freedom and to celebrate peace in this VE/VJ 80 year.
The community has again been asked to offer help to plant the poppies. Look out for social media posts from Sedgley TG for when, where and how to help with planting the poppies.
A special Remembrance event to launch the Poppy Fields and a Woman of War statue will be held at Sedgley war memorial by All Saints’ Church, Sedgley at 10.30am on Friday, November 7. All are welcome to attend.
