Bathroom specialist hib. brings new life to Rocklands School playground

Bathroom specialists, hib., have proudly completed a project to transform the outdoor play area at Rocklands School in Lichfield, creating a safer, brighter, and more engaging space for pupils.

The project began in early 2023, when hib. asked team members to nominate local charities to support. Rocklands School was nominated, and following a visit in July 2023 to meet Headteacher Jane Mackin and her team, plans were developed to explore how hib. could make a meaningful impact.

The work was carried out in two phases. Phase 1 saw the installation of a secure perimeter fence and access gate, significantly improving safety for pupils. While phase 2 added creative and interactive features to enhance the play environment, including a life-sized minion made from recycled tyres, new sensory and busy boards, and a nature kitchen to inspire imaginative play!

This initiative forms part of hib.’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the community and supporting local schools and families.

“At hib., we believe in making a positive difference by supporting the communities around us.” Charla Hodgkins, Inventory Manager at hib. commented, “The children now have a safe and vibrant place to explore and enjoy during breaks, we’re very proud to have worked with Rocklands School on this project and I hope the improvements will be enjoyed for years to come.”

Jane Mackin, Headteacher at Rocklands School, added: “We are truly grateful to hib. for their generosity and hard work. The new fencing will give our pupils a safe place to play and learn, while the creative additions have made the space fun and inspiring. This kind of support means so much to our school community.”

The Rocklands School project forms part of hib.’s wider programme of charitable and community engagement. With a long history of supporting initiatives that promote education, wellbeing and creativity, hib. continues to play an active role in giving back to the communities where its staff and customers live and work.
