95 years strong: WI group celebrates its remarkable journey
Trysull & Seisdon WI recently celebrated their 95th anniversary at Trysull Village Hall.
As members arrived they were given a glass of sherry or wine and a raffle ticket for a prize at the end of the evening. The tables had plenty of assorted nibbles to tuck into while we had our annual Harvest Auction. Once again everyone had been very generous with their contributions and our auctioneer Joan Burton was kept busy taking bids.
When the last item had been sold everyone gathered round the anniversary cake, which had been beautifully decorated by Jan Phillips. We sang happy birthday accompanied by Eileen Jones on the keyboard. Long standing members Barbara Morris and Mary Westwood came up to have their photograph taken with the cake held by Judy Fryer.

We all had a piece of cake and a glass of bucks fizz before sitting down for a sing song with Eileen on the keyboard. Soon everyone was singing along to a variety of songs old and new.

The raffle was drawn and was won by Joy Hewitt and Pauline Hough won the competition for a handmade item depicting 95 years. It was a lovely evening and everyone enjoyed our landmark celebration.
