Oldbury Salvation Army launches new podcast - This Is Salvation
The Salvation Army in Oldbury recently stepped into the digital space with the launch of its brand-new podcast, This Is Salvation. The opening episode, “Why Are We Doing This?”, introduces the heart behind the series, which is about sharing real stories of faith, hope, and transformation beyond church walls.
The podcast is designed especially with young adults aged 18–40 in mind, those most likely to connect online, but the message is for anyone searching for meaning, encouragement, or a reminder of God’s love. With its tagline REAL STORIES. REAL FAITH. REAL HOPE, This Is Salvation will feature heartfelt conversations about what salvation really means — overcoming challenges and embracing a new chapter filled with hope and possibility. Episodes will explore personal testimonies, practical faith, and how ordinary people are living out extraordinary hope.
“The stories and truths we hear on Sundays shouldn’t stay inside church walls,” said Jon Hampton, The Salvation Army Oldbury church leader. “They’re meant to be shared, carried, and lived out in everyday life. And this is what we intend to do with the podcast.”

The series will be joined by a second audio-only podcast, Mere Modern Christianity, released on alternate Thursdays, offering listeners deeper reflections on faith and culture. Together, the two shows will create a regular rhythm of digital content designed to meet people wherever they are: in their homes, on their commutes, or scrolling on their phones.
The Salvation Army hopes this innovative approach will not only connect with people across the Black Country but also reach listeners far beyond. “This is about meeting people where they are,” Jon Hampton added. “We want to bring the word to their smartphones, their earbuds, and their daily routines, reminding them that God’s love is for them, right here and right now.”
The two podcasts drop on alternating Thursdays at 7.30pm, streaming on Spotify, while This Is Salvation is also available on YouTube (including Shorts), Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, with the church’s youth group driving engagement.
