The Living Wage Funder accreditation encourages all salaried posts supported through the Foundation’s grant funding to be paid at least the real Living Wage rates of £12.60 per hour outside London and £13.85 per hour within London, as set by the Living Wage Foundation.

West Brom Building Society Foundation was set up to provide funding to support three key areas, promoting housing and affordable accommodation, the prevention of financial hardship through education and training, and supporting well-being in local communities.

With fair pay central to these aims, one of the first steps out of financial difficulty and into secure accommodation is to have access to a wage people can live on, and that’s why the Foundation is proud to be recognised as a Living Wage Funder.

Jonathan Westhoff, Trustee of West Brom Building Society Foundation, said: “This recognition means a great deal to us because it shows that we meet the highest standards in supporting fair and equal pay. As a Living Wage Funder, we encourage all salaried roles, supported by our grants to be paid at the real Living Wage rates. By supporting applicants to pay fairly, we hope to bring long-term sustainability to the projects we fund and help to improve the financial well-being of people in our communities.”

Katherine Chapman, Director of the Living Wage Foundation, said: “We’re delighted to welcome West Brom Building Society Foundation as an accredited Living Wage Funder. By ensuring that grants support fairly paid roles, the Foundation is helping to create sustainable opportunities that make a real difference. Their leadership shows how funders can play a vital part in tackling in-work poverty and help to drive positive change.”

The announcement follows on from earlier this year, when West Brom Building Society became the first employer in the West Midlands to achieve all three of the Living Wage Foundation’s accreditations; the real Living Wage, Living Hours, and Living Pension.
