Fresh leadership and fresh faces: Cockshut Hill starts new year with new principal
Cockshut Hill School, part of Summit Learning Trust, has welcomed a new principal this academic year, Mr Jody Clarke.
Mr Clarke attended the University of Birmingham and has held many roles at schools across the West Midlands. Originally an English teacher, Mr Clarke has extensive experience in senior leadership roles, having previously served as a deputy headteacher and most recently as the Executive Director of School Improvement and Development at a local multi academy trust.
Previous principal Jason Bridges retired this summer after leading the school on a remarkable improvement journey since 2016, culminating in an Ofsted graded ‘Good’ school.

Mr Clarke is determined to continue this upward trajectory and take the school to even greater success. His mission is to champion the values of ambition, connection and action, with a clear focus on academic success and learner achievement. He is committed to ensuring that every student leaves Cockshut Hill with the necessary academic qualifications, skills, knowledge and confidence to thrive, whether that means progressing to university, entering an apprenticeship, or pursuing another pathway of their choice.
Jody Clarke, Principal at Cockshut Hill, said: “I am honoured to lead Cockshut Hill School and build on the incredible work of my predecessor. My focus is to ensure every young person leaves here with the opportunities and confidence to follow whichever path they choose. Together with our talented staff, I want to take this school from strength to strength, securing even stronger academic outcomes and always living up to our motto of Nothing But The Best.”
