Thousands of feet will hit the streets of Stafford on Sunday, 22 March 2026, and many of those running will have experienced the care provided by the hospice or know someone who has.

Over £7,000 was raised for Katharine House Hospice by eight runners in the previous Stafford Half Marathon and two younger family members in the Fun Run.

Hayley Amison was among the fundraisers who ran for the charity last time. She said:

“I ran for my mom who passed away five years ago, and she spent a number of years with Katharine House Hospice.

“The Stafford Half Marathon is an incredible event. It was very emotional towards the end but there was such a good community spirit. Everyone from Katharine House Hospice was cheering each other on.”

Lyndsey Howard, Katharine House Hospice’s community and events fundraiser added:

“Every step taken and every pound raised makes a real difference - helping us to raise awareness and vital funds so we can continue providing free specialist care for patients and families affected by incurable illnesses.”

Another former runner, Joe Dawson, is encouraging people to take on the challenge for the hospice.

“Katharine House Hospice is an unbelievable charity. They help a lot of people around this area. Just get down and do this - it's one of the hardest but best things you'll ever do."

Organised by Freedom Leisure and Stafford Borough Council, the 13.1-mile route takes participants through the heart of the town, attracting runners of all abilities. People are encouraged to run for a cause.

“If you are going to push yourself physically, it really helps to have the extra motivation that comes from knowing you are helping others," added Lyndsey.

Adam Lamont shared his experience:

“What an atmosphere. There were people everywhere, lining the streets, cheering you on. It’s brilliant, I really enjoyed it.”
