Friends complete Jurassic Coast Challenge and prepare for next gruelling 50-mile walk for suicide awareness
Two friends, Matt Wall and Liam Kavanagh, have successfully completed their third major challenge in their mission to walk 5,475 miles while carrying 15kg, in support of suicide prevention charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).
The pair recently conquered the Jurassic Coast, covering 106 miles in just four days, more than 16,000 ft of elevation and more than 257,000 steps.

This monumental effort is part of their wider campaign to walk one mile for every life lost to suicide each year in England and Wales (5,475 in total). The 15kg weight they carry symbolises the 15 people lost every single day to suicide.
So far, Matt and Liam have completed the Norfolk Coast Path, the Telford T50 (with an extra 12 miles added), and now the Jurassic Coast — a combined 2,200 miles walked and £3,800 raised towards their £5,475 target.

But the journey doesn’t stop here. Next month, in October, they will take on the Long Mynd Hike (LM50) a brutal 50-mile endurance trek through the Shropshire Hills, testing their stamina, resilience, and determination to carry their message forward.
Matt said: “The Jurassic Coast pushed us to our limits, but that’s what this challenge is about. It’s about proving that when you feel like you can’t take another step, with the right support you can go further than you ever believed possible. We hope to show that even in the darkest moments, there is always a way through.”
Liam added: “Every mile, every step, every blister is worth it if it helps even one person feel less alone. Suicide doesn’t have to be the answer, there is always help and hope.”
The duo are continuing their journey with more huge challenges ahead, including the National Three Peaks, the Pembrokeshire Coast, and the North Coast of Scotland.
