Burntwood care home staff get emotional as bosses share bonus with all
Big-hearted managers at a Burntwood care home stunned staff when they chose to use a performance bonus they’d earned to give every colleague a share.
Hammerwich Hall Care Home Managers Kerrie Carpenter and Peter Bharj were awarded a sizeable bonus for their achievements but opted to forgo the money to reward their team.
There were gasps of surprise and tears of joy when each of their 27 staff were handed an envelope containing a £100 shopping voucher.
According to Kerrie, it was an easy decision as she and Peter wanted to show their hard-working colleagues how much their efforts are appreciated.

Kerrie said: “Every success that we have at Hammerwich Hall is a team effort and a testament to the hard work and dedication of all of us.
“Peter and I both felt strongly that we should share the money, and it was so moving to see the reactions, which were a combination of big smiles and happy tears.
“It was lovely to hear the team talk about how they are going to treat themselves – they deserve it!”
Recently, Kerrie took over as Home Manager after Peter moved to manage another Advinia Healthcare home.

She began working at the home in 2016 as a Senior Carer on the night shift and held the role for seven years before returning in 2023 as a Team Leader, and subsequently being promoted to manager.
Kerrie said: “To be the manager of Hammerwich Hall is a dream come true for me, and I am proud to lead a team of colleagues who genuinely care from the heart.
“I’m glad Peter and I were able to make this gesture, and I’m excited about what this fantastic team can achieve together in the years ahead.”
