Walsall opticians marks optometrist’s career milestone

An opticians in Walsall is celebrating a proud moment for one of its team members, who has successfully become a fully qualified optometrist.

Mya Sikham, who works at Specsavers in Walsall, which is locally owned and run, has passed her OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) and completed her pre-registration training. 

To mark the occasion, the team surprised Mya with a thoughtful well done gift and flowers to recognise her hard work and dedication to the store. The celebrations reflect the stores’ ongoing commitment to supporting the development of team members and nurturing future talent in the optical field.

"We’re thrilled to celebrate Mya’s success," comments store director, Justine Page. "She’s worked so hard throughout this journey and it’s always rewarding to see our team members grow and succeed. The passion Mya has shown for this profession and her ongoing commitment to customer care is wonderful to see. She’s an asset to our team."

Mya adds: "I’m so grateful for all of the support that I’ve received from the team throughout my pre-reg year. Achieving this qualification and becoming an optometrist is a huge accomplishment for me, and it means so much that our store directors, Justine and Jagroop celebrated with me. I’m excited for what’s ahead and proud to be a part of a team that truly values learning and development."
