After growing up in Smethwick, Shelia and her late husband, Derick, married and lived in Halesowen for 63 years, where they brought up their two sons.

Commenting on her Scrivens Community Hero Award, Shelia said: “Winning this award has really brightened my life, especially as I’ve had some difficult days since losing my wonderful husband, Derick, early last year. It’s such a truly lovely thing to happen and I thoroughly enjoy supporting my neighbours as much as I’m able to.”
