Hundreds of locals to get into work with successful Walsall Jobs fair

On Thursday, September 11, Walsall Council’s employment service, Walsall Works, hosted a successful jobs fair, providing opportunities for residents to connect with potential employers and explore various job openings.

The event which attracted more than 1,000 job seekers was officially opened by Councillor Mark Statham, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Children, Families and Lifelong Learning. 

Over 68 employers and training providers were in attendance including Bowmer Kirkland, Pure Gym, Amey, Alpha Healthcare, Bright Direction Training, Kier, Pinpoint Recruitment, Suez, Smart Works, Volunteer It Yourself and Hayward Healthcare. 

These employers offered job new job openings and training in fields ranging from Construction, Engineering, Logistics, Care, IT & Technology, Public Sector, to Business Administration and Customer Service.

There were also several new businesses including the top 10 recruiters in Walsall. 

Councillor Statham, Portfolio Holder for Children, Families and Lifelong Learning, officially opened the fair. He said, "We are incredibly proud to see so many people connect with great opportunities. 

"This jobs fair is a key part of our ongoing plan to create pathways to stable employment and empower residents to thrive. A huge thank you to all our partner businesses and organisations who participated."

One of the employers from Bowmer Kirkland said: “It was a really good event. The quality of job seekers was impressive. We spoke to 59 people and collected some good CV’s and did some valuable networking with other exhibitors.” 

A job seeker who attended said: “It was a brilliant event with lots of opportunities available, I saw a really good mix of exhibitors, some terrific job opportunities were also on offer. I am glad I came.” 

Since 2013, the Walsall Works Expo has been the largest Jobs fair of the West Midlands' employment landscape, helping thousands of residents find work and training opportunities. 

The next Walsall Works EXPO will be on 19 March 2026.
