Taking action on climate change: Call for West Midlands people to get involved
University of Birmingham experts are inviting people across the West Midlands to join them for a powerful day of discussion on what we can do to be more resilient to the impacts of climate change.
As the world prepares for COP30 in Belém, Brazil, Birmingham Institute for Sustainability and Climate Action (BISCA) is bringing together thought leaders across academia, government, and industry to explore how evidence-based policy can accelerate global climate action.
‘Bridging Research and Policy for Global Action: A day of dialogue for a more sustainable and equitable future’ takes place on Wednesday, September 17 from 10.30am - 5pm at The Exchange, Centenary Square, Birmingham.
Registration is free, but public places are limited – find out more and sign up.
The event also marks the launch of the University’s new report: ‘Bridging Research and Policy for Global Action’ — a call to connect evidence-based research with transformative climate policy. The day will feature:

“As we approach COP30, our speakers represent a range of voices—including policy influencers, industry leaders, the role of youth and academic researchers—sharing their perspectives on transforming research into real-world policy.”
