This isn’t just any Saturday night, it’s a chance to lace up your dancing shoes (or pull on your trusty boots) and take to the floor for a night of laughter, energy, and traditional barn dancing. Think do-si-dos, circle dances, line sets, and plenty of clapping in time to the music – all led in a way that makes it easy for first-timers while still keeping the pros on their toes.

Costumes are part of the fun too. Whether it’s checked shirts, jeans, denim skirts, flowing dresses, or cowboy hats, dressing the part makes the evening even more special – and gives kids and grown-ups alike a chance to really throw themselves into the spirit of the season.

There’ll be fun steps and games for children, light-hearted challenges for teens, and even some friendly competitions to see who can swing, clap, or stomp the loudest. With music that gets faster as the night goes on, there’ll be plenty of giggles and maybe even some huffing and puffing from those determined to keep up.

All this comes alongside hearty food and refreshments to keep your energy levels up, because barn dancing works up an appetite!

Deborah Hampton, church leader at The Salvation Army Oldbury, said: "Harvest is about celebrating what we’ve been given, and what better way than with music, food, and community dancing? Whether you’ve danced for years or have never tried it before, this event is about joy, togetherness, and leaving with a smile on your face. Everyone is welcome to come and join the fun."

So dust off your boots, gather your family and friends, and get ready for a barn-busting evening of food, fellowship, and fun at Oldbury Salvation Army.

Tickets are priced at just £3 for adults and £1 for under-16s, keeping it affordable for families of every size. To help with catering, guests are asked to confirm attendance by emailing oldbury@salvationarmy.org.uk
