Staffordshire eco foundation receives £500 donation from local homebuilder
Barratt Homes has donated £500 to The Globe Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation based in Uttoxeter that protects and enhances the natural world.
The organisation, located near the Poppy Fields development on Dowling Road, wants to bring together individuals, communities, businesses, and organisations to explore ways to future-proof the region and build community resilience against the negative effects of climate change.
Kate Copeland-Rhodes, Managing Director at The Globe Foundation, said: “The donation from Barratt Homes is being used for building improvements as we move to open an Energy Demonstrator Hub.

“Some of our projects are run by volunteers, therefore, having a safe and secure area for volunteers and staff at the Eco Centre is required. Support like this is crucial for local groups, charities, and organisations to deliver impactful work within their communities.”

By protecting and enhancing the natural world, The Globe Foundation addresses critical challenges such as climate change, environmental degradation, and energy security.
Its projects are designed to inspire, educate and empower individuals, businesses and organisations to take practical steps towards a more sustainable future.
Kate continued: “Grants and donations like the one we’ve received allow us to address practical needs, such as creating a safe and secure space for our volunteers and staff, which ensures our operations can continue effectively and sustainably.
“Without support, local organisations would struggle to meet growing demands, especially in a time of increasing environmental and economic challenges. By investing in these groups, funders not only support the immediate community but also contribute to long-term resilience, sustainability, and wellbeing.”
The Globe Foundation engages with the local area through a wide range of initiatives.

Kate explains: “We organise hands-on workshops, talks, and events that provide valuable skills and knowledge, from waste reduction to energy efficiency. Many of the foundation's projects are driven by local volunteers, offering opportunities for the community to participate actively in meaningful environmental action.
“The soon-to-be-opened Energy Demonstrator Hub will offer a dedicated space to educate the community about renewable energy options and energy-saving measures, empowering them to reduce costs and carbon footprints. We also work closely with local schools, businesses, and organisations to amplify our impact and reach.”
Adrian Evans, Managing Director at Barratt Homes West Midlands, said: “We are very happy to work with The Globe Foundation and assist them in creating a brighter future for the people of Uttoxeter.
“At Barratt Homes, we are strongly committed to making our ecological footprint as positive as we can with a variety of energy saving features installed as standard in our homes across the country. There is also our Zed House installation, created in collaboration with the University of Salford, which is a showcase for the future of sustainable living through new build methods and technology.”
