National housebuilder Miller Homes is building 145 new properties at its development, known as Astley Croft, on land between Areley Common and Redstone Lane.

A range of two, three and four-bedroom homes are being built by the developer as part of the new homes scheme, with 58 of the homes to be provided as affordable housing.

Construction work began at the development at the start of 2025, and is expected to be completed within the next three years.

Worcestershire-based Miller Homes West Midlands recently opened the doors to its four-bedroom showhome at the development, and has now welcomed its first new homeowners to the site.

Carl Cooke, sales director of Miller Homes West Midlands, said: “We were very proud to see our first new residents at Astley Croft move into their homes, marking the highly anticipated milestone and change within the development, moving towards becoming a thriving new community as our customers become neighbours.

“Our new showhome is receiving a lot of attention from visitors to the development, which provides a real insight into our new homes being built throughout Astley Croft. The Briarwood is a four-bedroom home which has been expertly designed inside to show how our homeowners could use the space available to them in their own new home.

“Now we’ve welcomed our first residents in Stourport, work continues apace to deliver the remainder of our development and see Astley Croft grow and flourish as the community forms and bonds.”

Miller Homes will provide 58 affordable properties at its Astley Croft scheme, 15 of which will be marketed and sold under the government-backed First Homes scheme, to enable would-be first-time homeowners to make their first step onto the property ladder by purchasing a home at a reduced rate, if they meet certain criteria.

The remaining 87 homes will be sold privately by the housebuilder, comprising a mix of two, three and four-bedroom houses, plus two different designs of bungalow.
