The Arcadian by M, reimagined: M Core unveils bold transformation of Birmingham’s leading oriental dining destination
M Core, one of Europe’s foremost property collectives, has revealed the successful repositioning of The Arcadian by M, Birmingham’s iconic dining and entertainment destination, through a programme of intensive asset and property management led by LCP UK, part of M Core.
Since acquiring and taking on the stewardship of The Arcadian, LCP has implemented a bold strategic transformation to reinvigorate the scheme physically and culturally. The result is a destination that authentically reflects the city’s diverse community while positioning The Arcadian as the premier hub for oriental-inspired cuisine and culture in the West Midlands.
This repositioning celebrates Birmingham’s unique cultural mosaic, blending place-based enhancements with a curated tenant mix that speaks directly to local tastes and demographics. The physical transformation includes:
A vibrant cherry blossom mural celebrating Asian heritage
Contemporary new signage throughout the car park and entrances
A redesigned and enhanced central fountain that anchors the piazza
A new Chinese-themed mural along Hurst Walk, adding vibrancy and energy
New high tech advertising screens adding to the ambiance

These improvements have been thoughtfully delivered to echo the rich colour, vibrancy, and cultural energy of the scheme’s increasingly Asian-focused offer.
Barry Flint, Director at LCP UK, part of M Core, said: “The Arcadian by M has undergone a remarkable evolution under our management. We saw the opportunity to build something distinctive for Birmingham—a destination rooted in community, culture and cuisine. Through intensive asset and property management, and a deep understanding of the area’s demographics, we’ve curated a tenant line-up and public realm that delivers a truly local and authentic experience.”
The evolution extends beyond aesthetics. LCP has brought in new, exciting operators that reinforce The Arcadian’s culinary identity. Recent arrivals include:
Arcadian Food Court: a 2,396 sq ft, 100-seat venue offering ten unique Asian street food vendors under one roof.
Chinese Arcade – 4,200 sq ft with a futurist design with food entertainment
Sly Old Fox – 4,500 sq ft a traditional pub retaining its old features with a new contemporary food opening in September 2025
With a strong leasing pipeline, The Arcadian’s mix of 16 restaurants, 121,000 sq ft of retail, dining and leisure space, and a 500-space car park places it at the heart of Birmingham’s Chinatown and Southside cultural district, within walking distance of the Birmingham Hippodrome and Bullring.

The new identity is underpinned by a striking red visual palette and refreshed branding, which will roll out online and onsite this summer. This includes a new website to support the next phase of The Arcadian’s story.
This reimagining aligns with M Core’s broader values: identifying underperforming or overlooked assets, unlocking their potential through intensive, hands-on management, and delivering long-term value that resonates with local communities.
Further enhancements are planned for later this year, as M Core continues to evolve Arcadian into a best-in-class cultural and culinary destination for the city.
