Danial Pearce, Edyta Rozynska and Yasser Zahran, who all work across the Lens Online, Vision Labs and International Glazing Services (IGS) sites, have been balancing their studies and assessments alongside working full-time to achieve the nationally recognised certification.

"I joined the team as an operator in 2009, and I’ve always been keen to grow and learn in my various roles since then," says Danial, team co-ordinator at Specsavers IGS. "Taking on the CMI Level 5 in Operational Management felt like a natural next step in my career, building on 15 years of leadership experience and helping to formalise the skills I’ve developed along the way.

"Specsavers were incredibly supportive throughout the training, providing the time and encouragement I needed to balance the qualification with my day-to-day responsibilities.

"The course has really boosted my confidence, especially in areas like strategic thinking, decision-making and continuous improvement, and I’m already seeing a positive impact as I apply my learnings."

Edyta, production support lead at IGS, adds: ‘Since joining Specsavers in 2011, I’ve been committed to growing as a leader and taking on this qualification seemed like a great way to further develop my management skills. My colleagues were really generous with their support and made sure I had all the resources I needed to succeed, and I’m delighted to have now completed the course.

"The training has given me lots of fresh ideas and practical tools to lead more effectively, and I’m confident it will enhance both my personal development and the value I bring to Specsavers. I’m now looking forward to building on this by working towards the diploma certification."

Yasser, who started his career with Specsavers in 2005, comments: "I had been working as a lab manager at the Specsavers store in Worcester for more than 10 years before I made the move to IGS as a team leader. Since then, I’ve progressed to shift leader and more recently, technical manager at the Vision Labs site.

"Supporting the development of others has always been a passion of mine, but I also wanted to strengthen my own leadership skills, particularly in coaching, communication and self-awareness. The CMI certification was the perfect opportunity to do that, and over the past two years, I’ve gained valuable skills that will allow me to support the team’s growth while contributing more strategically to the wider organisation. I feel really lucky to have had the support of my colleagues at Specsavers, who offered me their time and feedback while helping me to balance learning with my other responsibilities."

"We’re all incredibly proud of Danial, Edyta and Yasser’s achievements, which are a testament to their hard work and dedication,’ comments Jayne Cole, HR business partner across the Specsavers sites. ‘We’re committed to helping every team member reach their full potential, and providing opportunities for continuous development is a key part of that."

Between the three businesses, Vision Labs, Lens Online and International Glazing Services (IGS) provide lens surfacing as well as stocking and distributing lenses and contact lenses to Specsavers UK optical stores.
