The leading developers made the contribution to Beaconfields Primary School, close to their Bertelin Fields and The Catkins developments, to support the school in its efforts to help families during the ongoing cost-of-living crisis and boost the pupils’ energy ahead of a day of learning.

According to a recent article, there are concerns over the future and stability of breakfast clubs across the country due to tightening budgets, with schools only afforded 60p per pupil through government funding.

Mrs Harratt, Early Years Lead at Beaconfields Primary School, said: “We thank Barratt and David Wilson Homes for the donation to our breakfast club. It has helped us to offer a provision that supports working parents and help children have a great start to their school day.”

For parents and carers, breakfast clubs can be an essential part of the school day, especially for families who may not have the resources and time to provide breakfast for their children at home.

Beaconfields’ breakfast club allows pupils to have a healthy breakfast with the choice of cereals, toast and juice in a warm, friendly environment before the school day. Offering a social space in which pupils can have breakfast with their peers and take part in a variety of games and activities leads to a positive start to the day for many pupils.

Adrian Evans, Managing Director at Barratt Homes West Midlands, said: “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and young people should have access to a meal that sets them up for a day of learning and engagement at school.”

Helen Lewis, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: “There has been an increased demand for breakfast clubs at schools, especially due to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, and we are pleased to support Beaconfields Primary School’s fantastic efforts to help its pupils and their families.”
