Former music producer launches new career thanks to council jobs service
A former music producer has launched a new career in data analytics with the support of the Staffordshire Jobs & Careers Service, run by Staffordshire County Council.
Josh Gledhill, 30, from Stafford worked in the music industry for five years, touring internationally, collaborating with high-profile artists and teaching music. However, following a period of uncertainty during the Covid-19 pandemic, he decided it was time for a change and a new challenge.
Josh was introduced to Staffordshire Jobs & Careers Service in September 2024, having completed a 10-week government-funded skills bootcamp in data analytics. He was eager to gain practical experience in his new field where he had no previous background.
Advisers quickly set Josh up with a 12-week work experience placement with the council’s Economy and Skills team, where he excelled. Shortly after that, Josh applied for a job as a data analyst with the authority’s highways department, which he secured.

Josh said: “The support I received from the Staffordshire Jobs & Careers Service and my adviser during my placement was amazing.”
“Shifting from a career I loved, being self-employed and travelling the world, to working a desk job was intimidating at first. But within a few weeks, I felt comfortable. The work was fulfilling and really pushed me, helping me build both the technical and soft skills I needed for a future in data analytics.
