Nursery summer fete generates windfall for Midlands charities
Team members and families at Partou Langley Gorse Day Nursery and Pre-school in Sutton Coldfield have raised £650 for local charities after hosting a summer fete.
The impressive total was reached through a host of money making ventures including a homemade cake and lemonade sale, hookaduck, guess the teddy name, glitter tattoos, a tombola and a raffle.
No less than four charities have benefitted from the memorable and sometimes emotional day.
They include Beat, which helps people with eating disorders, and Lens Light, set up to help young people farming face loneliness and depression.

Funds will also go to Tiny Tickers, founded in 1999 by world-renowned fetal cardiologist Dr Helena Gardiner to improve the early detection, diagnosis, and care of babies with congenital heart disease; and Brainstrust which helps people with brain tumours feel less afraid and alone.
Set in a rural Georgian mansion a mile from Sutton Coldfield town centre, Partou Langley Gorse was recently in the news after being awarded a ‘Good’ rating in all areas by Ofsted.
In her final report, the inspector wrote: “Children spend much of their time laughing, giggling and having fun at this happy and welcoming nursery.”

Holly Edwards, Partou Langley Gorse Nursery Manager, said: “We had a fantastic day and were delighted to raise so much money for good causes.
“Most of the produce was made by us, including the cakes and lemonade, and our in-house chef cooked up a range of goodies in the kitchen.
“All of the tombola and raffle prizes were also donated by team members, families and friends of the nursery.

“Each of the four charities has a special connection with at least one team member, which made the occasion so personal for all of us.”
Samantha Rhodes, Partou Managing Director, added: “Everyone associated with the fete should feel incredibly proud of what they’ve done, it was a real team effort.
“I know how much the individual charities mean to the Langley Gorse team, making it was a uniquely personal occasion for so many.
“Congratulations to everyone involved.”
