Darts players throw their weight behind national fundraising campaign
A bunch of darts enthusiasts from Wolverhampton are set to take part in a 12-hour playing marathon in aid of a national cancer charity.
The top-flight team of 10 - who take part in a weekly knockout at the Swan pub in Lower Street, Tettenhall - will be playing non-stop on Saturday, August 30, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The group will play in rotation and are aiming to score over 100,000 points during the 12-hour session boosted by a few doubles, trebles & bullseyes along the way.
Organiser Rob Charlesworth said: “I saw that Macmillan was looking for teams to participate and thought it would be great to get involved.
“The cause is important to us all for different reasons and we are looking forward to the challenge and raising as much money as possible.
“Anyone who wants to come and throw a few darts on the day will be most welcome and we will also have buckets on the bar for people who would like to make a donation.”

The marathon kicks off at 10am and anyone wishing to join in can drop in to the pub at any point throughout the day.
The National Macmillan Darts Marathon is aiming to raise money for men living with cancer and to encourage them to seek support and talk about cancer one throw at a time.
