Eden Girls’ Leadership Academy, Birmingham pupils celebrate glowing GCSE gains

Pupils at Eden Girls’ Leadership Academy, Birmingham are experiencing a well-deserved moment of celebration today as they receive their GCSE results, reflecting both dedication and academic excellence.

High-performing pupil Ruqayyah Kauser Tariq was beaming with pride after securing eight grade 9s (the highest grade possible) in her GCSEs. After opening her results envelope to the good news, Ruqayyah will now go onto study A levels in Chemistry, Maths and Psychology. Reflecting on her success, Ruqayyah said: “I’m so relieved, I didn’t think I was going to get the grades that I did. I want to thank Mrs Amer, my Head of Year, who supported me so much before the exams.” 

Another pupil on cloud 9 is Imaan Ahmed who achieved eight grade 9s, including top grades in Maths, Computer Science and the three Science subjects. Following her time at Eden Girls’ Leadership Academy, Birmingham, Imaan is planning to study Maths, Further Maths and Computer Science at A level. The delighted pupil said: “I’m so happy with my results, thank you to all my teachers who helped me so much this year.” 

Ariana Khan, who only joined the school at the end of Year 9, has secured a remarkable five grade 9s and four grade 8s, including a grade 8 in French - a subject she took up for the first time upon arriving at the school. She will now go on to study A levels in Maths, Biology and Chemistry. Thanking her teachers, Ariana said: “I’m in shock and so happy with what I got. Thank you so much to my teachers for all your dedication and hard work throughout the year, I really appreciate it.” 

Despite facing difficult personal circumstances throughout the year, Manahil Sultana has shown incredible dedication and perseverance to achieve two grade 9s in English Language and Literature and a clean sweep of grade 7s in the rest of her subjects. Speaking of her nerves prior to receiving her results, Manahil said: “The whole night I couldn’t sleep, I was so nervous. I opened the envelope and I did better than I thought. I struggled with my attendance this year, but my teachers helped me so much.”
