Michael triumphs in afternoon sun
Parkinson's sufferer Michael Johns saw his wish come true when he once again got to take to the stage and perform.
Michael was forced to give up his career as a professional singer when he was cruelly struck with the Parkinson's disease. But his wish to take to the stage once more finally came to fruition in the glorious sunshine this week at The Rag @ Rawnsley.
Hundreds turned out for a summers afternoon of live music where Michael, ably supported by Carol Brooks, singer-songwriter Jordan Adams and Cannock's new sensation, female singer KC and the debuting Rag Time Band all performed.
The event was held in aid of two charities, Parkinson's UK and Stafford & Cannock League of Hospital Friends. Although the event was free to enter that didn't stop the revellers from digging deep inot their pockets. Big prizes were on offer in a live raffle and this raised over £2200 which will be equally split between the two.
Trustee of The League of Friends, Ian Hinton said he was humbled by the generosity of businesses, local and international, friends of the pub and personal friends who either donated prizes or readily took part in the raffle, "this demonstrates how much love people locally have for Michael and their desire to help his dream come true".
