Holyhead School celebrates superb A Level success

It has been a day of celebration at Holyhead School – located on Holyhead Road and part of the Central Region Schools Trust – as students receive their Level 3 results in A Level and vocational qualifications today.

The Academy is delighted to celebrate another year of excellent outcomes, improving on those from last year.

Overall, 70% of Holyhead students achieved Distinction*/Distinction grades in their Applied General qualifications (equivalent to A*/A as A Level grades). These fantastic results are recognition for the hard work and determination of the students and staff at the school, especially over the last two years in their courses.

Many students are now looking forward to progressing onto their chosen courses at university, exciting apprenticeship opportunities or employment at leading organisations. The school is exceptionally proud and pleased to share the news that two students will be progressing on to begin Medicine degrees this autumn, a phenomenal achievement.

While all students have done well, there have also been some standout individual performances, which include:

  • Harpreet Kaur who successfully achieved A* in CACHE L3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care and A* in Punjabi.

  • Kadidja Konate who gained 4 As in biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics. She has accepted her place to study Medicine at Aston University.

  • Aariz Sharif who earned 3 Distinction* grades in BTEC Applied Law, BTEC Business and Cambridge Technical in IT. He will be moving on to study Money, Banking and Finance at the University of Birmingham.

  • Rhea Aheer who achieved 2 Distinction* grades in BTEC Applied Law and music, 2 As in English language & literature and Extended Project, and 1 B in psychology. She will be studying Law at the University of Birmingham.

  • Suraiya Sond who gained 2 Distinction* grades in BTEC Applied Law and music, and 1 B in psychology. Suraiya has secured her place to study Law at Birmingham City University.

  • Abhijeet Singh who secured 2 Distinction* grades in BTEC Applied Law and BTEC Business and 1 B in psychology. He will be studying Psychology at the University of Warwick.

  • Neha Jahanger who achieved a Distinction* in BTEC Applied Law, 1 A in geography and 1 B in sociology. She has accepted her place to study Geography at Coventry University.

  • Sukhraj Athwal who secured 2 A’s in English language & literature and psychology, and 1 B in sociology. He has secured his place to study psychology at the University of Birmingham.

Collecting her A Level results today, Kadidja Konate, said: “I could barely sleep yesterday thinking about my results, but now I cannot be any happier! I’m so glad my hard work has paid off and so thankful to my teachers who helped to make this happen. I’m really excited to begin my journey studying medicine and very hopeful for the future!”

Collecting his A Level results today, Sukhraj Athwal, said: “The build up to results day is worse than the actual day itself, I’m delighted and relieved with the results I’ve achieved now! It’s so important to consistently believe in yourself and your ability to achieve what you want – then you can do it!”

We celebrate their remarkable achievements - each one a stepping stone toward the dreams and aspirations they can now boldly pursue.
