Be in the running to support children with disabilities
Whether you run walk or skip your way to the finish line, taking part in the Cannock Chase Running Festival for Newlife The Charity for Disabled Children means you will be changing a child’s life, all by having fun.
The event on Sunday October 12th gives people of all fitness levels the chance to undertake a 5k,10k or half marathon route through stunning scenery – and whether you are challenging yourself to beat a personal best, or want to stroll you way through the lush landscape, your efforts will mean Newlife can help children with disabilities receive the specialist beds, buggies, wheelchairs and car seats they urgently need.
Taking part for Team Newlife means we can offer a registration fees of just £15, whichever distance you decide to undertake, and we’ll provide tips and support to help you easily reach your fundraising goals – which for the 5k is just a £50 minimum, while it is £100 for the 10k and £150 for the half marathon.
Emma Jackson, Newlife Director of Finance and Central Services, who ran for Team Newlife in the Cannock Chase Running Festival last year, said: “I had an amazing time taking part. Not only do you get a real sense of personal accomplishment, it’s also a great day out in the Staffordshire countryside and a chance to bond with friends, family or colleagues, all while doing something which is truly meaningful.
“At Newlife we see how powerful an effect having the right equipment at the right time can be for a child with disabilities, how it can transform life for them - and their family too.
“The right equipment means children and teens can safely sleep through the night so their family can sleep peacefully too; it means the difference between being trapped inside their home or having the freedom to attend vital medical appointments, go to school or college, see friends and make the most of opportunities they have.
“However, as Newlife receives no Government funding we rely on people to support us and take on fundraising challenges for us so we can keep helping children receive the equipment they need that can be life changing.”
