The Salvation Army’s pre-loved uniform market returns to Cannock Chase
With the summer holidays in full swing and back-to-school preparations already on the minds of many families, The Salvation Army in Cannock Chase is once again stepping up to help lighten the load. From Monday 11 to Friday 15 August, its much-loved Pre-Loved Uniform Market (PLUM) returns to The Salvation Army at Hednesford, offering a warm welcome and free, good-quality school uniforms to families who need them.
Set in the heart of the community, PLUM is more than just a clothing exchange, it’s a practical expression of care, dignity, and solidarity at a time when many households are feeling the pinch.
Families of both primary and secondary school children can browse a wide selection of donated second-hand uniforms for local schools—completely free of charge. Those who wish to give back are welcome to make a small donation at the event, though it is not a requirement. Uniforms are also available throughout the year on an individual basis, subject to availability, and a mid-year PLUM is held each February half-term.
The market is open on the following dates and times:
Monday 11 August – 10:00am to 3:00pm
Tuesday 12 August – 3:00pm to 7:00pm
Wednesday 13 August – 10:00am to 3:00pm
Thursday 14 August – 10:00am to 3:00pm
Friday 15 August – 10:00am to 12:00 noon
Donations of pre-loved uniforms can be made at:
Cannock Library (during normal hours)
Hednesford Library (during normal hours)
Hednesford Salvation Army (Monday–Thursday, 2:00pm–5:00pm)

This year’s event is being held in partnership with Staffordshire Libraries, continuing a strong tradition of community collaboration.
Beyond uniforms, The Salvation Army in Hednesford operates a year-round Friendship Café (Mon–Thurs, 2pm–5pm) offering pay-as-you-feel meals including jacket potatoes and paninis. The café is open to everyone in the community, providing a space to connect and enjoy a warm, nutritious meal.
The church and charity also partners with the Trussell Trust’s Pye Green Foodbank, distributing food parcels to families and individuals in need. Together, these efforts form a lifeline of practical support for the Cannock Chase area.
