Valley Court Care Home in Oldbury, which provides care to elderly residents with a range of needs has unveiled the results of a makeover to its outdoor area.

The transformation comes as part of Dunelm’s Delivering Joy Summer campaign, which has seen the homeware retailer, complete 48 Outdoor Makeovers for local and charitable organisations across the UK.

A new rattan sofa lounger, rug, mirror and bistro set were donated to transform the once empty space into a comfortable seating area, perfect for both relaxing and socialising.

Additional colourful accessories such as topiary trees, plant pots, bunting and cushions have been given to add a touch of colour and comfort to the set up.

Valley Court Care Home received over four thousand votes from customers on the local Oldbury Dunelm Customer Facebook group. The Dunelm team worked closely with the staff at Valley Court to help create a quiet area that everyone could enjoy.

Peter Richardson Store Coach at Dunlem’s Oldbury store added “Supporting our local community here in Oldbury is a key focus for us and therefore it’s been wonderful to be able to work with the amazing team at Valley Court Care Home on such an important project. We hope the space can now be enjoyed by all the residents, staff and guests for years to come.”

Throughout the country Dunelm’s Delivering Joy Summer programme has provided makeovers to numerous projects from a hospice in Sunderland to a primary school sensory area in Exeter. Over 800 products including planters, gazebos and water features have been donated to help transform the community spaces.

The projects were voted for by customers on Dunelm’s Community Facebook groups, run by local stores. Dunelm colleagues created shortlists of Outdoor Makeover ideas, having reached out to their local communities for submissions, and almost 120,000 votes were then received from customers across the 48 stores taking part.

Colleagues from the stores have been out and about, donating their time to help complete the makeovers over recent weeks, with the remainder following over the course of July.

Dunelm’s Summer Delivering Joy campaign follows the success of its annual Christmas campaign, which last year delivered a record–breaking 270,000 presents to those in the local community who would otherwise go without.
