Key worker given £21k boost to get on property ladder in West Midlands
A key worker has received more than £21,000 to move to the Tenchlee Place development in Hall Green and become the proud owner of her first ever property.
Tania Kaleem (27), along with her partner, Saad Mohammad (33), moved to the development from Pakistan, where they lived with their parents.
Working as a Health Check Coordinator, Tania qualified for David Wilson Homes’ Key Worker Deposit Contribution scheme, which provided the new homeowners with a £17,750 deposit contribution and £3,550 towards a flooring upgrade in their brand-new house.

Tania said: “The scheme helped us gather a deposit for the house and get the mortgage successfully. We saved up by living with relatives, and in one-and-a-half years we had enough money for a deposit by saving what could have been spent whilst renting.

“We saw many different developments and properties, but David Wilson Homes’ quality stood out to us. The savings we made were another reason to go with the homebuilder.
“Having your own space, whether big or small, gives you a sense of ownership and helps you in creating an asset for yourself as well.”
The Key Worker Deposit Contribution Scheme was created to show appreciation for people working in the public sector and assist their property ladder progression. When a customer purchases a David Wilson home using the scheme, the housebuilder could contribute £1,000 towards their deposit for every £20,000 spent on the purchase price - up to a maximum of £15,000.
For example, a home costing £300,000 would mean that the customer qualifies for a contribution of £15,000.
Saad, a Chartered Accountant, added: “We chose the three bedroom Archford home because it’s only the two of us, and we know that the house won't outgrow us in the next few years.

“The layout was well suited to our needs with the kitchen being a good size and the garden being big enough for us. We love to host for friends and family, so we have got plenty of room to entertain guests.”
The location of Tenchlee Place is ideal for Tania and Saad, with its proximity to motorways, town centres and the centre of Birmingham. The development has also given them access to a gym and grocery shops, and a two-minute walk from the local train station.
Tania continued: “We would definitely recommend David Wilson Homes to our friends and family. The procedure was straightforward being first-time buyers with no chain. The site managers, sales team and everyone on site were amazing with their service.
“For us, the feeling of owning a brand-new home and the fact that nobody has lived in the house before us was important. You also get to be a part of the entire process, from the very beginning right up to completion.”
