Local opticians puts charity in the frame
An opticians in Wolverhampton has been busy raising money for a local charity, raising more than £400 in the first of a series of planned fundraising events.
The team at Specsavers Wolverhampton, which is locally owned and run, recently ran a host of money raising activities in store, all in aid of Good Sheperd, a charity supporting people experiencing homelessness in Wolverhampton. Customers had the chance to buy sweet treats in-store and had the chance to win a ‘Summer Bundle’, including skincare and hair products, in return for a small donation. The team also held a raffle to win a chocolate hamper to add to the total.

‘We’re always keen to support local charities and give something back to those who need it,’ Hardip Bahia, store director at Specsavers Wolverhampton, says. ‘Good Shepard is a brilliant charity, and we’re pleased so many people have been getting involved with our fundraising efforts.
‘We know times continue to be tough at the moment, so we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has donated so far. We’ve got some more fundraising activity coming up over the next few months to help us raise as much money as possible.'

Established more than 50 years ago, Good Shepard provides support to people experiencing homelessness in Wolverhampton. From crisis support including food, practical support, and interventions to relieve homelessness to support to prevent people from becoming homeless and interventions and activities that support recovery from homelessness, mental health, and addiction – the charity’s mission is to end homelessness.
