Boots Opticians, in High Green, closed for just under two weeks to allow for the transformation to take place.

The ‘top-to-bottom’ refurbishment includes changes to the dispensing and pre-screening areas, new equipment and test cards, as well as a dedicated contact lens section.

Optometrist director Kuldeep Kandola, the co-franchisee alongside Parvinder Mahli, said the revamp had been planned for a number of years but kept being put back.

Mr Kandola, who has had the branch for 13 years and also runs ones in Bloxwich and Brownhills, said: “It needed an update, but something kept getting in the way.

"I am glad we have got it sorted, we’ve noticed an improvement in productivity and it’s been well-received by patients who feel more comfortable.”

Additional members of staff at the branch have taken the number up to nine.
