Local club gets off to a winning start
The Rotary Club of Cannock starts the new Rotary year on a high by winning the district 1210 10 pin Bowling Competition.
The team made up of six members from the Cannock club beat the Rotary Club of Shrewsbury Darwin in a close fought match played at a neutral venue in Stafford.
The trophy was presented to Cannock’s Sports officer Jacko Page by District Sports coordinator Stan Jukes. Stan thanked both teams for a very sporting and entertaining final and congratulated Cannock on their win.
Jacko thanked the Rotary of Shrewsbury Darwin for an excellent game which was played in a sporting manner in te true spirit of Rotary. He went on to say that this win was a club effort, thanking his winning team and also those members who had played in some of the earlier rounds but were unavailable for the final.
The Cannock Club are now holders of three district trophies snooker, Croquet and 10 Pin Bowling.

Sport plays an important role within Rotary by bringing clubs and their members together for fellowship events and helps to form bonds between clubs.
On Wednesday 6th August the Cannock Club alongside the Rotary Club of Burntwood is holding a sports fun and fellowship event at Hammerwich Cricket Club, which will include outdoor games such as croquet, crown green bowling golf chipping as well as traditional pub games like darts and bar billiards. The evening also includes a Fish & Chip supper. There is an open invitation to all other clubs within the district to come along with family & friends to enjoy some Rotary fun & fellowship.
