South Staffordshire First Responders celebrates after receiving £8,307 from the Severn Trent Community Fund to help keep the charity responding to life threating emergencies
Local community group, South Staffordshire First Responders, is today celebrating after being awarded £8,307 in funding from the Severn Trent Community Fund to support its work responding to life threating emergencies and providing medical aid before the emergency ambulance arrives. The group, based in South Staffordshire, will use the money to fund their work supporting West Midlands Ambulance Service.
South Staffordshire First Responders was founded in 2004, starting out in the villages of Wombourne, Pattingham, Codsall, Kinver and Perton. Over the years, the charity has expanded out to more and more areas of the South Staffordshire region, moving into areas such as Bilbrook, Trysull and Swindon.
Over the years, the scheme has grown in number, starting with two members and now pushing up to 20 members actively responding in the community.

They are a dedicated group of volunteers who give up their days, evenings and weekends to help the members of the community of the South Staffordshire region. They respond to the most urgent calls on behalf of West Midlands Ambulance Service, such as cardiac arrests, strokes, chest pain and much more.
The new funding from the Severn Trent Community Fund, which awards grant money to improve the three elements of community wellbeing - people, places and environment - means they are there to support the community when it needs it.
Mark Wallker, SSFR Community First Responder says: “We’re delighted that the Severn Trent Community Fund has recognised our work in this way. We’re thankful to the Severn Trent Customer Panel for selecting us for funding so that we’ll be able to provide emergency medical help in people’s darkest moments. This grant means we can concentrate on supporting the community.”
