Local bus travel getting a boost with new evening and Sunday bus services across Staffordshire
Arriving in the Cannock, Lichfield, Rugeley and Stafford areas from 20 July, the introduction of the additional evening journeys on Monday to Saturday along with brand new Sunday journeys supported by Staffordshire County Council will make travelling by bus a viable alternative to using the car for many journeys.
Service 60 (Cannock – Burntwood - Lichfield)
Additional Monday to Saturday evening journeys – including by popular request a late evening departure from Lichfield to Cannock at 2310 via Burntwood, Chasetown, Chase Terrace, Norton Canes, Heath Hayes plus a new hourly Sunday daytime service will be introduced.
Service 74 (Cannock – Huntington - Stafford)
Additional Monday to Saturday evening journeys along with a new hourly Sunday daytime service will be introduced.
Service 828 (Stafford – Rugeley - Lichfield)
Additional Monday to Saturday evening journeys will be introduced. Sunday journeys will continue to operate with no change to times.
Andrew Mynors, Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for connectivity, said: “It’s great news that Chaserider has extended its services into the evenings between Stafford, Cannock and Lichfield thanks to funding from Staffordshire County Council. This means more choice and increased travel options for our residents. We hope this will also support the evening economy in the towns. As a county council we’re committed to improved connectivity for communities across Staffordshire. The introduction of the additional evening journeys on Monday to Saturday along with brand new Sunday journeys has been made possible through funding by Staffordshire County Council and will make travelling by bus a viable alternative to using the car for many journeys!”
