Choir relive Lady Wulfruna photo in 60th year
Wulfruna Ladies Choir began as Pennfield's Townswomen's Guild Singers in 1965. By 1986, they had changed their name and had a photo taken by Lady Wulfruna by St Peter's Church, Wolverhampton.
Over the years, the choir has changed personnel, conductors and repertoire and is still going strong today with almost 40 singers. As 2025 is the 60th anniversary of the choir, the idea was hatched to re-enact the 1986 photo by Lady Wulfruna. There was a get together in a local pub after the photo session and the whole day proved to be so popular that it may become an annual event from now on.
The choir meet weekly on Tuesday evenings at Bradmore Community Centre, Birches Barn Road, Pennfields WV37BN. Songs performed are a mixture of old and new music in 2 and 3 parts. The choir give performances in a variety of venues, including churches, concert halls, schools, residential homes and shopping centres. They also hold joint concerts with other choirs and brass bands.
The choir support and donate to a number of charities every year and are always interested in holding a concert for a worthy cause.
