From delivery room to dressing room: Wendy Smylie unveils Kitty Darling’s timeless vintage storefront
Kitty Darling, the innovative womenswear boutique founded in 2025 by Wendy Smylie, is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its first physical retail store in Bilston on Saturday, 19 July. Located at 46 Church Street, the new boutique will bring Kitty Darling’s signature blend of contemporary design and accessible luxury to the heart of the community.
A New Retail Experience
Kitty Darling is building a devoted following online by offering thoughtfully curated collections of dresses, tops, outerwear, and accessories that blend modern trends with timeless silhouettes. Drawing inspiration from the refined silhouettes of 1940s and 1950s fashion, each piece provides a modern twist on classic vintage aesthetics.
“I’m so excited to welcome customers in person,” said Wendy Smylie, Founder. “While I continue to practise as a midwife—albeit on reduced hours after ten rewarding years at Manchester’s busiest maternity unit—I’m delighted to focus more energy on Kitty Darling, creating a welcoming space where fashion lovers can discover our latest designs and enjoy a hybrid social style shopping experience.”
Set in the original Café Metro bar frontage—after the venue moved to the rear post-COVID, Kitty Darling will collaborate with Café Metro to host regular style soirées. Guests are invited to dress in their Kitty Darling favourites, enjoy live music, and sample a curated selection of gins, cocktails, and refreshments.
