The leading Midland’s landlord has selected WMFS to be the Primary Authority for its organisation, meaning that the fire service will support whg on all fire safety matters.

The new Primary Authority Scheme (PAS) partnership means that whg will receive assured and consistent regulatory advice in relation to fire safety, through a single point of contact for fire safety advice and regulation. Up until now, fire safety had been enforced by fire and rescue services covering each local authority area the housing association operates in.

Chris Luke, Director of Assets and Building Safety said: “As a proud signatory to the Building a Safer Future Charter, we are committed to leading the way in raising standards across building safety.

“Our new Primary Authority partnership with West Midlands Fire Service and their outstanding Primary Authority Team is testament to this commitment. Through this partnership we will gain direct access to their expertise, emerging best practice and evolving regulatory guidance. This supports our ongoing efforts to embed a culture of safety, transparency and assurance helping us to deliver safe homes and piece of mind for our customers.”

Deputy Chief Fire Officer Simon Barry said: “WMFS are pleased to announce becoming Primary Authority for whg in matters of legislative fire safety and general fire safety matters.

“WMFS will provide advice, where necessary, to whg regarding fire safety management and guiding practicable solutions in order to mitigate fire risks for residents within the West Midlands and the surrounding areas where whg operate.”

Primary Authority Schemes (PAS) allow the fire service and businesses to come together to improve the quality and consistency of safety and prevention measures.
