'Not a dry eye in the house' as 93-year-old Roy attends son's wedding

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house at Hollyfields & Ivy house care home in Kidderminster as staff and residents waved off fellow resident, Roy Dalby, to go and see his son, Brian marry his wife Christine at Hartlebury Castle.

It was touch and go whether Roy would be able to attend the ceremony, he really didn’t think it would be possible, so everyone breathed a sigh of relief when the big day came and he was able to go thanks to the help of Kaylee our activities assistant. Roy said he was very excited to be able to go.

Staff at the home rallied round to get Roy wedding ready, sorting out his suit and tie, so he looked his best for when he saw his family. He was chauffeur-driven from the home using our local taxi service. Roy and his family could not have been more grateful for all that the staff did to make sure he had the best possible day.

Alan, Roy’s grandson, said: “Thank you, you made our day. He said it was lovely to see Grandad be a part of this special day."
