Hospice volunteer urges people to support summer raffle
There’s less than one week to go for you to buy your tickets for the St Giles Hospice Summer Raffle.
Tickets are just £1 each and you have until Wednesday 16th July to get yours. The top prize winner will take home an amazing £8,000, and the funds raised through the raffle will go directly towards providing care to local people, and their loved ones, living with a terminal illness.
One person who knows just how important this care can be is Jeremy Blunt, a volunteer gardener at St Giles. The hospice holds a special place in Jeremy’s heart as his late wife, Liz, received specialist care after being diagnosed with myeloma, a type of bone marrow cancer.
Jeremy said: “St Giles provided support to me and Liz all the way through to her final days. She died, at home, surrounded by myself and our daughters – that was her wish and St Giles helped make that happen. The team of volunteer gardeners has become like a second family to me. Many of us have lost our partners, and we all found support here.”

Jeremy continued: “As well as volunteering, I also play the Summer Raffle, and I hope you will too. Every ticket sold helps St Giles continue its incredible work, providing care and support to families like mine.”
The St Giles Summer Raffle boasts a fantastic line-up of prizes, including £8,000 for the lucky first prize winner, £2,000 for second place, and £1,000 for third. There are also 25 runner-up prizes of £10 vouchers, so plenty of chances to win while helping a great cause.

Helen Curran, Individual Giving Manager at St Giles Hospice, said: “Playing our Summer Raffle is a fun and easy way to support St Giles, with the chance to win some fabulous cash prizes. Whilst we receive some funding from the Government, we still rely heavily on donations and income generation from our local community. Tickets cost just £1 each, and every ticket sold helps St Giles to continue to be there for people when they need us most.”
