At a recent visit organised by the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, Simon Foster, councillors and residents were able to see first-hand the progress on the works to the building, which will be the new Police HQ in Dudley.

The pledge for a new police station was secured previously by Councillor Keiran Casey who represents the Castle and Priory Ward on Dudley Council alongside former MP Ian Austin and thousands of local residents who have been longing to get a station back in the North of the Borough.

This new station will be a fit-for-purpose building and home to neighbourhood policing teams, force response, have new victims facilities and modern consultation/interview rooms, as well as a public front desk for residents to speak to officers.

Councillor Keiran Casey, Castle and Priory Ward said: "Crime and ASB is one of the top things residents raise with me as a local councillor so I know what a big issue this is for our communities.

"Residents have long wanted a station back in the North of the Borough, and I promised to make this happen and have acted.

"I secured the pledge from the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner and have been relentless in pushing to make sure this is delivered, so it's amazing to see the site being developed and opening in Autumn this year, so a big thank you to Simon Foster for fulfilling this pledge.

"I know this isn't the only answer to the concerns residents have locally though, that's why I will keep campaigning to make sure Dudley continues to get our fair share of new officers, as well as continuing to push the importance of officers being out on the beat across our communities".

Local resident Mr Gordon Laird said: “This will make a big difference locally and something we've been campaigning for a long time, I want to say a big thank you to Keiran as our local councillor who has been leading this right from the start, as well as to West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster”.

Local resident Mr Terry Ledbury said: "It was great to see the progress of the building when we visited and to know that this will be opening later this year.

"I was really pleased to hear from senior police officers about the difference they think this will make to policing in the Borough, having a modern Police HQ with the latest technology to support our local police teams to tackle the issues we are all concerned about."
