It was standing room only at Bishton Hall in Staffordshire on Sunday, 29 June as Hansons launched its very first Super Sunday Lifestyle Auction – and what a way to kick things off.

With a packed saleroom and a real buzz in the air, bidders turned out in force for a full day of antiques, collectables, jewellery and interiors, resulting in strong results across the board.

Among the highlights were a textured gold Bueche-Girod ladies watch which achieved a hammer price of £750, and a flat filed gold curb chain bracelet which sold for £520. A charming 9ct gold Tavannes pocket watch drew plenty of attention, hammering at £560.

Collectors also had their eye on the decorative arts, with an Arts and Crafts style brass pot featuring Celtic knotwork selling for £100, and a set of Victorian silver-hallmarked bloodstone-handled cutlery fetching £170.

Furniture proved popular too, including a George III walnut lowboy which sold for £220, and a handsome late Victorian pedestal desk that made £150. A carved oak bench in the 17th century style found a new home for £95.

Elsewhere, a striking eight-day chiming regulator grandmother clock by Gillett and Johnston, c.1920, sold for £620, and a large Wedgwood Colorado dinner and tea service went under the hammer for £230.

Hansons’ team were thrilled with the turnout and atmosphere on the day. “It was everything we hoped a Super Sunday would be,” said Charles Hanson. “A bustling saleroom, a diverse mix of lots, and some fantastic results for both buyers and sellers.”

Following the success of the launch event, the next Super Sunday auction is set to take place on Sunday, 27 July at 11am, with open viewing on Saturday, 26 July 10am – 4pm. The full catalogue will be available one week prior to the sale via hansonslive.co.uk.
