Rotary club celebrate end of a successful year

The Rotary Club of Cannock has a new president for the forthcoming Rotary year. Current incumbent David Marklew passed on the role to Alan Matkin

David thanked club members for their support throughout the past year, he gave a short review of the past projects undertaken both locally and internationally. In May the club hosted a very successful Tripartite visit from the Rotary Club of Bad Kreuznach-Natetal in German and in 2026 the club will be making a return visit to Germany. David congratulated the youth services team as in the past year, more schools took part in the district competitions with larger number progressing through to district and national level competitions. The club supports two very active Interact clubs, for students aged 12-18, these are based at Kingsmead High school and Chase Grammar school.

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of community and international committees throughout the year, this has enabled our club to continue to raise funds to help the local community as well as a number of key international projects

Overall, a very successful year.

New President Alan Matkin thanked David and his team for leading the Club over the past two years, Alan said he was looking forward to the year ahead and thanked the members for giving him the opportunity to lead the club.

Alan introduced his team and outlined his plans for the coming year which includes a number of new ideas for projects, fundraising and social events. Alan told the members that he had already had a number of positive responses from our newly proposed honorary members which includes our local MP Josh Newbury, plans are well underway to induct them all at a special meeting in early August.
